Bill Sharman is one of four people inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame two times as both a coach and a player. Sharman is a 10-time NBA Champion, winning four as a player while teaming up with Bob Cousy for the Boston Celtics to create one of the better backcourt combinations in NBA history. Sharman was named to both the NBA 25th Anniversary Team and the 50th Anniversary Team. He was drafted in 1950 and began his professional career with the Washington Capitols, a team that disbanded in 1951. The offered Sharman jersey was one worn during the 35 games spent with the Capitols, highlighting the jersey’s exclusivity. This is the only known Sharman Capitols example and is an exceedingly rare shirt worn by a Hall of Fame player during his rookie season. This is only the third-known Sharman jersey. On the inside of the front right tail is a “Rawlings Nu-tex” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent is a size “40” tag and a tag with washing instructions. The front of the jersey reads, “WASHINGTON CAPITOLS” with the player number “10” appears on both the front and on the back. All numbering and lettering are done in gold-colored tackle twill sewn directly onto the green durene jersey. The right side seam has custom darting, presumably done by the team. Slight paint transfers. This jersey is in all original fantastic condition. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by an additional LOA.
