Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto spent his entire career as a New York Yankee, during which time he was affectionately nicknamed “Scooter”.  In 13 seasons he won 10 AL pennants and seven World Championships with the Bronx Bombers, including five consecutive World Series titles between 1949 and 1953.  Despite a watershed offensive year in 1950 when he batted .324 with 200 hits and 92 walks and was named AL MVP, the smooth fielding fan favorite was best known for his defensive abilities.  When he retired, his 1,217 career double plays ranked second in Major League history, and his .968 career fielding average trailed only Lou Boudreau's mark of .973 among AL shortstops. After his playing days, Rizzuto enjoyed a 40 year career in the Yankees broadcast booth where his idiosyncratic style and unpredictable digressions charmed listeners, as did his trademark expression, “Holy cow!”  This jersey was worn on the field by Rizzuto in 1955, 30 years before his number 10 was retired by the New York Yankees.  On the inside back collar is the "Spalding" manufacturers tag. Attached is the size “42” flag tag. On the front left tail is "Rizzuto 55-10" in navy blue chain stitch. On the inside left front tail is the wash instructions tag with a "SET 1 1955" flag tag attached. On the left breast is the "NY" interlocked logo. On the back is the player number "10." All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue felt. There was a number change and it has been professionally restored. The jersey shows good game-use and besides the number change and restoration appears to have no other alterations of any kind.  It comes with a copy of an exact photomatch.
