The graceful Jerry Coleman led AL second baseman in fielding during his rookie year and was an All-Star in his second season, averaging .282 over the two years. In the neck of the jersey is the size tag, "42." On the left front tail is the "Spalding" label and below this is the name "G. Coleman." Under this is "42 56" denoting the size and year, respectively. The name and numbers are done in blue chain stitch. On the inside left front tail is the wash tag and adjacent is the flag tag reading, "Set 1 1956." On the left breast is the "NY" logo and on the back is the player number "42." Both the logo and numbers are made of blue felt. The numbers have been restored. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the restored numbers, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
