Don Holleder is the definition of a true American hero. While attending West Point University and playing football for Army, Holleder was an All-American tight end in 1954. In 1955, Holleder moved to quarterback to help the struggling team. Holleder’s change in position is considered the main reason for Army's 14-6 upset win over Navy in 1955 in what many believe the greatest Army vs Navy game of all time. After graduation he served in the Vietnam War. During a battle, Holleder was killed in action while rushing to help others who were injured and in trouble. Offered in this lot is Holleder’s All-Army watch and an official game program and ticket from that historic Army vs Navy football game. On the back of the face of the watch reads “14 K GOLD FILLED” “DON HOLLEDER ARMY TIMES’ 1957 ALL-ARMY FOOTBALL TEAM” engraved. The watch is in working condition and shows minor scratches on the front and back of the face. The game ticket is in VG condition and the program is in VG-EX condition.
