Joe Namath was an American Football League icon and played for the New York Jets for most of his professional career. The apex of his career was his performance in the Jets' 1969 victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts in the third World Championship Game after the AFL-NFL merger. Namath was named MVP of Super Bowl III and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985. Offered is the best Namath jersey to enter the hobby. This jersey is custom cut and is sans a manufacturers tag although MacGregor manufactured. The crotch piece has been removed. Across the front and back is the player number “12”. Across the back on a green nameplate is the player name “NAMATH”. These are done in white tackle twill. The player number “12” also appears on the shoulders in green tackle twill. Namath is seen wearing this jersey in multiple game images from his rookie season. This is likely Namath’s first ever professional road jersey with the Jets, and the only documented rookie era jersey of his with direct lineage from Namath to the equipment manager Herb Norman. There is an absolutely perfect level of wear seen on this jersey. This jersey was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an equipment manager family LOA and a Photo-Match.com LOA confirming the match and grading the jersey a perfect 10.
