The Carolina Cougars were originally a charter member of the ABA in 1967 as the Houston Mavericks. The Mavericks moved to North Carolina in late 1969 after two seasons in Houston and became the Carolina Cougars, which would remain in Carolina through the 1974 season. They became the Spirits of St. Louis for the final two years of the ABA. On the inside of the front button path is a “Rawlings” size "44" manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent is a tag with washing instructions and the player number "23" is written on it in black pen. On the left chest is an ABA basketball with the team's, "CC" logo in a dark red tackle twill. Across the back reads, "CAROLINA" in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the warm-up jacket. This warm-up jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as player-worn and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a LOA from Steve Kramer and a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame LOA.
