A 6'6" forward from Drake University, Wise earned a spot on the American Basketball Association's (ABA) Los Angeles (later Utah) Stars as a walk-on in 1969. He would prove to be one of the best all-around players in the league, as he was both a proficient scorer (19.2 points per game during his ABA career) and a highly-esteemed defender. Indeed, while playing for the Stars, who won the 1971 ABA Championship, Sports Illustrated described him as "the best two-way performer in pro basketball." On the back inside tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturers size 44 tag. To its right is an additional tag which is unreadable. Next to this is the “WOLFE’S SPORTSMAN HEADQUARTERS” tag. Next to this is an additional wash instructions tag. Across the front is "STARS." Below that and on the back is the player number "42." Across the back is the player name “WISE.” All lettering and numbering is done in blue on red tackle twill. On the back inside waistband of the shorts is the "Rawlings" manufacturers size 34 tag. Next to this is an additional wash instructions tag. On the right leg are five red on blue tackle twill stars surrounding the Utah state flag patch. On the left leg are five red on blue tackle twill stars surrounding a USA flag patch. The uniform shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. An additional LOA will be provided.
