Carolina Cougars was a basketball franchise in the former American Basketball Association that existed from late 1969 through 1974. The Cougars were originally a charter member of the ABA as the Houston Mavericks in 1967. The Mavericks moved to North Carolina in late 1969 after two unsuccessful seasons in Houston at the Sam Houston Coliseum. The Cougars' colors were green, blue, and white. Probably worn in the pre-season by a non-roster player. On the back inside tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturers size 42 tag. Adjacent is an additional tag “L.” Across the front is "COUGARS" in blue on white tackle twill. Below on the front and back is the player number "35" in the same tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "STEWARD" in white tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and besides the name and number change appears to have no alterations of any kind.
