Hall of Famer Unseld was the second player ever to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the same season. Famed for his rebounding, bone-jarring picks and ability to ignite a fast break with his crisp, accurate outlet passes, Unseld made up for his lack of size (6’7”) with brute strength and sheer determination. Unseld took the Bullets franchise to four NBA Finals, and won the championship in 1978 over the Seattle SuperSonics, in which he was named the Finals MVP. He ended his playing career following the 1980–1981 season, and his #41 jersey was retired by the Bullets shortly thereafter. This All-Star uniform was modelled after the Phoenix Suns uniforms as the game was played in Phoenix. On the left front tail is the “Spanjian” manufacturer’s tag that is fraying. Above are the remnants of a second tag. Across the front is “EAST” along with two stars done in white tackle twill with an orange embroidered border. Player number “41” appears on both the front and back. Player name “UNSELD” appears on back. All these numbers and letters are done in felt appliqué. Autographed by Unseld on back in black marker with added inscription “HOF 88” rating a 7-8. On the inner rear lining of the matching shorts is the “Spanjian” manufacturer’s tag with size “40”. On each side of the shorts is “EAST” done in heat transferred vinyl on orange tackle twill with a white embroidered border. The outer waistband of the shorts is fraying. The front is a zipper with two snaps. This jersey appears to have been worn after this game as well. The uniform shows good game-use and other than what is mentioned appears to have no further alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from Wes Unseld. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signature.
