Pete “Pistol” Maravich was the best scorer in college basketball history and his skills translated at the NBA level in a hurry. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and went on to make two All-NBA First Teams in his career. Maravich led the NBA in scoring in 1977 and was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. On the front left tail is a “Sand-Knit” distributor’s tag that reads, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the NEW ORLEANS JAZZ” and below is a “Sand-Knit” size “42” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Across the chest reads, “JAZZ” and the player number “7” appears on both the front and on the back. These are painted in purple. Across the back reads the player name, “MARAVICH” in purple tackle twill done by the team locally. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows outstanding use with some slight deterioration to the base of the front number "7". This wear pattern has been conclusively photo-matched to a game against the Boston Celtics on 1/24/1978, a game where Maravich scored 31 points en route to a 96-91 victory. You would be hard pressed to find a better Jazz Maravich in existence.
1977-78 "Pistol" Pete Maravich New Orleans Jazz Game-Used Home Jersey (Pounded • Photo-Matched to 1/24/78 31-Point Performance Vs. Celtics)
