In his short tenure with the Celtics during the 1979-80 season, Pete Maravich teamed with "Cornbread" Maxwell and rookie Larry Bird to give Boston the high-powered offense it would build on while toward an NBA Championship the following year. Maravich wore this Boston Celtics home knit jersey during that season, in which he averaged 13.7 points per game while splitting the year between the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics. On the left front tail is the "Sand-Knit" manufacturer's tag with the size "44" and attached to it with adhesive is the size tag "44," with "2" LB" to denote two extra inches of body length. To the left of the manufacturer's tag is the white knit inventory patch with "29" in black. The team name "Celtics" is sewn across the front of the jersey and the player name "Maravich" is sewn across the back. The player number "44" appears on both the front and back of the jersey. All of the letters and numbers are made of green tackle twill. The uniform's tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other 1979-80 Boston Celtics home knit jerseys. The jersey came to us directly from Maravich's wife Jackie and comes with a letter of authenticity from her. It shows good game-use with consistent, even wear throughout and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
