“Pistol” Pete Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. The 1977 scoring champion was a five-time NBA All-Star and was voted to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. The all-time leading scorer in Division I history played his final season in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, as his career was cut short due to injuries. On the front left tail is a “Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag that reads, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the BOSTON CELTICS”. Below is a “Sand-Knit” size “44” manufacturer’s tag. On the right inseam is a “100% NYLON” tag with washing instructions. Across the chest reads, “CELTICS”. Player number “44” appears on the front and on the back. Across the back reads the player name, “MARAVICH”. All numbering and lettering are done in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the green knit jersey. Jersey features the team appropriate squatty 4’s and wide zig-zag stitch pattern which is indicative of a jersey ordered late in the season and lettered locally by the team. The Sand-Knit tagging first appeared in the 1980-81 season for most teams. Maravich’s first game with the Celtics was in January of 1980 which all aligns well with this Hall of Fame gamer. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
