After an impressive 1985 season, the New York Mets vaulted themselves atop the division with a franchise-best 108-54 regular season record. Down to their last strike in Game 6 of the World Series, Mookie Wilson grinded out a 10-pitch at-bat that led to a slow dribbler towards Boston Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner, who let the ball roll through his legs to allow the Mets to reach Game 7 and eventually win the World Series. In Game 4 with the Mets down in the series two games to one, Carter blasted a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to put the Mets up 2-0 and eventually tie the series at two games apiece. “Rawlings” manufactured “OFFICIAL BALL 1986 WORLD SERIES” baseball. Carter inscribed the baseball in pen, “Home Run Ball – Hit Off Al Nipper In The 4th Inning Of The 4th Game At Fenway Park In Boston. It Was Game Winning 2-Run Homer”. The baseball shows great signs of game-use with toning throughout. This is a great piece of history in one of the most dramatic World Series of all-time. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA and a Carter family LOA.

This lot is consigned to us directly from the Carter Family in an effort to raise money for their charity, The Gary Carter Foundation.
