Given the nickname “Magic” in high school, Earvin Johnson almost made you believe he had supernatural passing ability. One of the best guards to ever play in the NBA, Johnson won five NBA championships and earned Finals MVP honors three times. Johnson led the NBA in assists four times and is one of only five players in NBA history with over 10,000 career assists. After the 1988-89 season, Johnson was awarded the league’s MVP award by averaging 22.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 12.8 assists per game. On the front left tail is a Sand-Knit distributor’s tag that reads, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for LOS ANGELES LAKERS”. Below is a “Sand-Knit” size “44” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent is a strip tag with “2” LB” embroidered in black stitching and a white swatch with “88” embroidered in black stitching. On the left inseam is a materials tag with washing instructions. On the left chest is the official “NBA” logo embroidered and above is a black armband for Larry Fleisher, the former director of the NBA Players Association. Fleisher passed on May 11, 1989. This jersey shows a tremendous amount of wear and was likely worn prior to the addition of the armband. It exhibits a season or more worth of use. Across the chest reads, “LAKERS” and on the back reads the player name, “JOHNSON”. These are done in gold on white tackle twill. The player number “32” appears on both the front and on the back in white on gold-colored tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by an additional LOA from Alan Meza.
