Ozzie Smith known as "The Wizard" played shortstop a NL record 2,511 career games at the position. He won the NL Gold Glove Award for play at shortstop for 13 consecutive seasons. A 15-time All-Star, he accumulated 2,460 hits during his career, and won the NL Silver Slugger Award as the best-hitting shortstop in 1987. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 2002. On the inside front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “40” with washing instructions. Attached is a flag tag reading “SET 1 1991” and two strip tags reading “T” and “1 INCH”. On the right sleeve is a “Rawlings” logo embroidered in white. Across the front reads “Cardinals” embroidered in red on blue script style writing beneath the team’s “birds on a bat” logo in gold, red and blue embroidery. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “1”. Across the back on a white nameplate is the player name “O. SMITH”. All numbering and lettering is done in red on blue tackle twill. Smith signed the front of the jersey in black marker with the added inscription “Good Luck Best Wishes” and in our opinion the signature rates an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a LOA from Photo-Match.com confirming the match.
