Trailing three games to zero against the New York Yankees in the ALCS, the Boston Red Sox became the first team in major league history to come back from a three-game postseason deficit, winning in seven games. The Red Sox went on to win the World Series, capturing their first championship since 1918. Presented is a jersey from one of the key contributors to that team, David Ortiz who wore this jersey to hit his 36th home run of the season. The jersey features baseball related dirt staining on the left shoulder, chest and back. On the front left tail is the Russell Athletic manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions and an attached strip tag reading the year “2004”. Across the chest reads “BOSTON”. The player number “34” appears on the back and across the back is the player name “ORTIZ” on a grey nameplate. All numbering and lettering is done in the same red on navy blue tackle twill. Ortiz signed the back of the jersey in black marker with the added inscription “Game Use 2004 HR 36 09/06/04 Vs Oak” and in our opinion rates an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
