Wayne Gretzky finished his Hall of Fame career on April 18th, 1999, playing his final game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden. Gretzky recorded an assist in the game and would ultimately be the last of his NHL record 2,857 career points. This Hespeler pro graphite stick was given to Gretzky’s teammate Todd Harvey at the end of the game. Harvey’s number “20” is written on the shaft in silver marker so that after Gretzky used the stick, it was specifically given to him. The player name “GRETZKY” is on the shaft and stamped into the blade. The handle features Gretzky’s signature Gripper tape and handwritten on the knob is “1487” which is the total number of games he played. The blade is taped in black and also stamped into the blade is the player number “99”. The signature on the throat of the blade is no longer visible. The stick shows game-use and is accompanied by a LOA from teammate Todd Harvey and a LOA from Photo-Match.com. A true piece of hockey history from the final game of the greatest player of all time.
