The architect and mastermind behind one of the most dominant franchises in sports history, Arnold "Red" Auerbach coached the Boston Celtics to eight straight NBA Championships (1959-1966), a streak unmatched in any professional team sport. During his tenure in Boston, Red coached 11 future Hall of Famers and led the team to 10 Eastern Division titles in 16 years to go with his nine NBA titles. Prior to joining Boston with his trademark cigar in 1950, Auerbach coached the NBA Washington Capitols and Tri-Cities Blackhawks. His teams made the playoffs every single year he coached. Auerbach was the first coach to win 1,000 NBA games (playoffs included). He was named NBA Coach of the Year in 1965, and in 1980 was named the Greatest Coach in NBA History by the Pro Basketball Writers Association. After moving to the front office, Red was named NBA Executive of the Year in 1980. Silver Relief medallion. In excellent condition; slight scratch on tip of nose.
