“REACH” manufactured OAL Barnard red and blue stitched baseball signed by 25 members of the 1930 New York Yankees. On the sweet spot is a spectacular Babe Ruth with Lou Gehrig directly adjacent to the left, creating a strong display point. Other signatures include Tony Lazzeri, Earle Combs, Bob Shawkey, Bill Dickey, Chas Ruffing, Chas O’Leary (coach), Lyn Lary, Bennie Bengough, Art Jorgens, Hank Johnson, Ben Chapman, Harry Rice, Ed Wells (faded), George Pipgras, Ken Holloway, Sam Byrd, Herb Pennock (faded), Jimmie Reese, Lou McEvoy, Ownie Carroll, Dusty Cooke, Bubbles Hargrave and Art Fletcher (coach). All signatures are done in black steel-tip fountain pen and in our opinion, rates an 8-9 overall. The ball is in gorgeous condition, showing a white brightness with the slightest of toning/spotting. JSA told us that this is the nicest 1930 Yankees team signed ball they have ever seen and is far nicer than any exemplars in their data base. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA with sticker “X61044” on it. PSA/DNA was unable to authenticate the signatures. It is further accompanied by a copy of an LOA from our consignor which states, in part, “Years ago my grandmother...worked as a caregiver/companion to the ailing and aged mother of Miss Winnie Wyant (companion of Col. Jacob Ruppert, owner of the Yankees)...At some point in his long time employment with her, Winnie gifted my father with the baseballs. Originally sourced from Jacob Ruppert. Our consignor also gave us a Yankee ball from another year that sold in a past auction from the same source.
