With the combined powers of Warner Bros. and Michael Jordan, Space Jam — a film about Jordan helping Looney Tunes characters play a game of basketball against alien invaders (who have absorbed the talents of the NBA’s best players) — grossed over $230 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing basketball film of all-time. The film’s inspiration came from a commercial during the 1992 Super Bowl, in which Jordan and Bugs Bunny team up and defeat other gym goers with their new footwear, pairs of “Hare Jordan” sneakers. In addition to leading the creative path for one of the defining films of the live-action animated genre, it was the first time audiences landed their eyes on the Air Jordan 7. Already established as a huge influence in the sneaker markets, Jordan’s “Hare Jordan” sneakers allowed him to reach an even more diverse audience across the globe that spanned all ages. This pair of “Hare Jordan” sneakers being offered were worn during the aforementioned 1992 Super Bowl commercial that was everything more than an ordinary primetime commercial spot. Sourced from Jordan’s body double during shooting, each tongue has “AIR JORDAN” embroidered in grey stitching. On the heel of each sneaker is black number “23” and the Jumpman logo is embroidered in purple stitching on the outside ankle area. On the inside of each tongue is a manufacturer’s tag with the code, “910810-FT”. The right-footed sneaker is labeled as a size 9 compared to the size 13 on the left-footed sneaker. Although labeled a size 9, the sneakers are the same size (size 13). Our speculation is the sneakers were streamlined for special production and it was a manufacturing error. The left-footed sneaker has Upper Deck hologram sticker, “BAC23351” and the right-footed sneaker has Upper Deck hologram sticker, “BAC23352”. Jordan signed the toe area of each sneaker in black pen. The left-footed sneaker’s inscription reads, “To Nate, Thanks For Everything” and the right-footed inscription reads, “Best Wishes”. In our opinion, the autographs rate a 7 overall. These sneakers are properly tagged, were presented to us as commercial-worn and in our opinion show appropriate wear. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA and an LOA from Jordan’s body double stating the authenticity of this pair of sneakers. This pair of Jordan sneakers is a truly unique item that carries cultural significance in addition to an exclusivity factor that cannot be duplicated.
