This unique hat was manufactured by E.A. Mallory and Sons of New York. It is a black felt bowler’s style hat with black ribbon surrounding the base of the crown and a star style perforation on top of the crown. It is well worn yet still exhibits a beautiful appearance. One can only imagine the great Yankee Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig walking down a Manhattan street wearing this stylish hat as he took his wife to dinner. It has a brown leather interior band with a faded Lou Gehrig emblazoned on it. It is a size 7-3/8 and has a cushioned front. Even today, 75 years later, this hat exhibits beautiful workmanship that no longer exists. It comes with a letter of provenance directly linking this hat as part of Lou’s worn attire. It was given to the original consignor’s father directly from Mrs. Eleanor Gehrig.
