Two presidential documents from President Abraham Lincoln. Across the top of both reads “PRESIDENT of the United States of AMERICA” with a blue or green “United States War Office” seal. One document dated August 5th, 1861 appoints the “Second Lieutenant in the Regiment of Mounted Riflemen” in the service of the United States. Lincoln signed his full name as “Abraham Lincoln” on the bottom and remains in beautiful vintage condition. To the left of Lincoln’s signature is the Secretary of War Simon Cameron’s signature. The other document is dated May 18th, 1864 and is signed on the bottom by Lincoln on the bottom which presents well but has experienced some period era fading. To the left of this signature is the Secretary of War Edwin Stanton’s signature. Minor creasing and appropriate fading of the writing is seen in both of the documents.
