Press Maravich’s LSU Tigers Original Game Film Reels With Never Before Seen Footage Of "Pistol" Pete Including Full Rights (106)(Maravich Family LOA)

This extraordinary grouping of 106 film reels dive into the behind the scenes film study that helped “Pistol” Pete Maravich become one of the greatest basketball players ever. Pete, along with his father and coach Press Maravich, would break down reels from games while Pete was at LSU and after looking for ways to improve. These never before seen reel-to-reel films are from the personal archives of the Maravich family where Press and Pete would study film and perfect Pete’s craft, analyze the opponents and more. Many of the reels are dated and attributed to specific games with the opponent listed on them. The reels include game footage, practices as well as other mementos depicting Pete. One of the reels is titled “Tulane vs LSU Harold Sylvester Tulane Shuts Pete Down” which was studied for ways to improve. Another reel is titled “Save for 71-72 Practice Plays”. We have digitized some of the footage which is included in this lot. It is unclear how many of these are in black and white or have color or audio as well as all reels being associated with their correct label. Original game film reels featuring Maravich during his time with the Utah Jazz recently sold for more than $62,000. This lot containing Maravich’s college film reels is much more desirable and unique as almost none of LSU’s games were televised at the time. As expected, there are clarity issues for reels of this age. A true look into the passion and drive of one of the greatest college basketball players ever honing his craft.
