Willie McCovey reached an iconic milestone in his Hall of Fame career on June 30, 1978, when he hit his 500th home run to join the immortals of the 500-home run club. This trophy was presented to McCovey on the field after accomplishing the feat. The large award features a batter on the top and four smaller batters surrounding it beneath. Engraved on a plate below reads “WILLIE McCOVEY 500TH MAJOR LEAGUE CAREER HOME RUN 6/30/78 -- ATLANTA STADIUM PITCHER: JAMIE EASTERLY, BRAVES 2ND INNING -- BASES EMPTY NO OUTS -- COUNT: 0-2”. Bat has been repaired where it meets players hands. Trophy presents in overall fine condition. Accompanied by a picture of McCovey on the field being presented with the offered trophy.
