In 17 seasons, Marino started 242 of the Dolphins' 272 regular-season games. He suffered only one serious injury, in Miami's fifth game on October 15, 1993, and was placed on the injured reserve list for the rest of the season. On that chilly fall day in Cleveland, as he dropped back to pass, an untouched Marino dropped to the ground, his Achilles tendon ruptured. His season, as well as one of his best chances for a Super Bowl run, instantly vanished. This is the complete uniform that Dan Marino had on when he was injured. Inside the back of the neck is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with jersey size "50" on it. Attached is a year tag reading "93." On the bottom front collar is the embroidered official "NFL" logo. On the front, both shoulders and on the back is the player number "13" screen printed in aqua and orange. Across the back of the jersey is "MARINO" in aqua tackle twill on a white name plate. On each sleeve is the screen printed official "Dolphins" logo. Below that on the left sleeve is the embroidered "Wilson" logo. On the cuff of the right sleeve is an embroidered "J.R." patch worn in memory of Dolphins owner Joe Robbie. The right sleeve has been custom cut on the bottom. There is an autograph on the back number in orange marker rating an 8. Aqua pants with orange, aqua and white stripe side panels, orange belt with white metal buckle, aqua laces on front. On the inside right waistband is the "WILSON" manufacturer's size 34 tag. Next to this is the player number "13" in black marker. Inside the pants are two thigh pads and two shin pads. In the neck of the white long- sleeved undershirt is the "Majestic" size "XL" tag. On the outside collar is the embroidered "Miami Dolphins" logo. White leather "Nike" high top size 11.5 cleats with orange and black trim. "13" written on the back of each cleat in black marker. The shoe laces have been cut off at the right cleat with a few small pieces remaining. NFL Pro-Line socks with two aqua and an orange stripe, one of the socks has been cut down the middle. These items also include a set of shoulder pads (for display purposes only), a full-size mannequin (to display the entire uniform), and a piece of artificial grass (for display only). Jersey, pants, undershirt, socks, & cleats all show game-use and besides the mentioned customization have no alterations of any kind. These museum pieces have archived in a pristine manner, with the actual injured foot sock and cleat bearing the medical trainers' emergency cuts which are strikingly visible, as well as the last dirt of the season from the "Dawg Pound."
