Monte “Hoot” Pearson played in the MLB for 10 seasons, winning four World Series championships and making two All-Star games. Pearson holds the honor of pitching the first no-hitter at the original Yankee Stadium. On the inside below the rear collar is a “SPALDING” manufacturer’s tag. Attached is a size “44” flag tag and a tag with washing instructions. Above the “SPALDING” tag, the player name, “M. Pearson” is embroidered directly onto the jersey in red stitching. On the inside of the rear tail is the year “39” in red chain-stitching. On the left chest is an “NY” logo. On the back is the player number “16”. These are both done in navy blue felt lettering sewn directly onto the pinstripe flannel jersey. The "NY" and "16" were professionally restored using outlines from the previous “NY” and "16". An original period patch has been reapplied to the left sleeve. The fat strap has been removed with small holes remaining in the center rear tail and front placard. Original buttons. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used in the 1939 World Series and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a photomatch of Pearson in locker room after throwing a complete game shutout in Game 2 of 1939 World Series with seven innings of no-hit ball.
