In 1927, the New York Yankees assembled what many consider to be the best baseball team ever as they posted a 110-44 regular season record and swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. They acquired the nickname “Murderers Row” for their potent lineup including Ruth, Gehrig, Combs and Lazzeri. Between Ruth and Gehrig alone, they combined for an astonishing 107 home runs and 338 RBI. On September 30, 1927, Ruth broke his own record by hitting his 60th homerun of the season. “REACH” manufactured OAL Johnson baseball. Written on the ball in an unknown hand is the date “9/30/27”. The ball has been signed in period black fountain ink by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth (ss) and Lou Gehrig. In our opinion the signatures rate a 5 and 3 respectively. The ball is in EX condition overall with some shellac. Accompanied by a full LOA from JSA.
