Incredible 5" x 7" team photo by Thorne of the 1932 World Champion New York Yankees that hung in Yankees HOF catcher Bill Dickey's house, framed to 6-1/2" x 8-3/4". The 1932 Yankees gave the legendary Babe Ruth his last World Series Championship, the Series in which he hit his alleged "called shot". During batting practice of that same game (three), Ruth knocked nine balls into the stands and purportedly said "I'd play for half of my salary if I could play in a dump like this". On the front are written in black fountain pen the players' names next to their images, ostensibly in Dickey's hand. The back of the photo has been signed in black fountain pen by 21 members of the team, including HOFers Babe Ruth, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez, Earle Combs and Bill Dickey, Lyn Lary, Sammy Byrd, Jimmie Reese, Art Jorgens, Cy Perkins, Dusty Cooke, Dixie Walker, Jim Weaver, Ivy Andrews, Walter Brown, Johnny Allen and Lou McEvoy. Also signed by two who were not on the official roster, James J. McDonnell and Bob Gibson. Gibson is pictured and listed on the front. Photo is in VG-EX condition with some cracking on the front which does not affect the back, signatures on the back average an unbelievable grade of 8 to 9! Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
