Coach Art Fletcher saw the Yankees go 102-52 in 1937 and win the American League pennant. The Bronx Bombers lost the World Series to Fletcher's old team, the New York Giants. Fletcher played from 1909 through 1922 with the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies, where he led the league in being hit by pitches for five seasons. From 1923 to 1926 Fletcher managed the Phillies. In 1929 he managed the Yankees for 17 games, and afterwards remained with the team as a coach. On the inside back collar of the jersey is the "A.G. Spalding" manufacturers tag. Adjacent to that is "A Fletcher" in script embroidered in red thread. On the left breast of the jersey is "NY" in navy blue felt. On the back of the jersey is the coach's number "29" in navy blue felt. On the left inside waistband of the pants is the "A.G. Spalding" manufacturers tag. Adjacent to that is "W Brown" in script embroidered in red thread. On the inside of the fly is an additional manufacturers tag with "37" on it. The jersey and pants show excellent use with some stains on the jersey (probably tobacco stains). The jersey and pants appear to have no alterations of any kind.
