Before there was "Magic," before there was "Pistol Pete," and even before there was a 24-second clock, there was "the Cooz," the greatest passer and ball handler the game had ever seen. While leading the Celtics to six NBA Championships, Cousy was a 13-time All-Star, including 10 times on the All-NBA First Team and eight times the NBA assist leader. When the Celtics had the ball leading by a point or two with a minute to go, they would give the ball to Cousy to dribble the clock away. Cousy in his greatness and dominance was the NBA's version of the "closer," and likely is one of the reasons we have the 24-second clock today. This late-1950s Boston Celtics green road durene jersey from one of the NBA's 50 greatest players was originally in one of Cousy's Celtics teammates' private collections. On the inside front tail is the Horace Partridge label with the size 42 tag adjacent. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Boston," with the player number 14 appearing on both the front and back. All letters and numbers are made of white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game-use.
