Fresh to the hobby is this recently discovered advertisement obtained by our consignor as an 11 year old at The Beverly Hills Hotel in the summer of 1952. Marilyn Monroe resided there at this time. As our consignor states, partially in her Letter of Provenance “…In 1952 during my summer vacation…we stayed at The Beverly Hills Hotel…we were having brunch when we observed Joe DiMaggio arriving with a beautiful blonde lady. “…Is that the Monroe woman?” Someone decided I could go over to Joe DiMaggio and ask him for his autograph…he graciously signed it and then said “And would you like Miss Monroe’s?” I can’t remember my exact answer, but probably yes or thank you. I returned to the table and the mystery was solved.” Marilyn was still a B-movie actress and the pictures that would catapult her to international stardom were not yet released, so it's understandable that she was not so recognizable. The advertisement endorses Eddie Bergman and his orchestra at the Palm Terrace, Beverly Hills Hotel in green lettering. It was produced folded to sit on top of a dining table. The inside is signed by the couple on each side “Warmest Regards, Marilyn Monroe & Best Wishes, Joe DiMaggio.” In the summer of 2021 a signed baseball with both signatures sold for $384,000! Both signed in the same blue ink. There are nine pinholes and the reverse is creamy white. Accompanied by a Full JSA LOA grading the signatures an 8 and a LOA from our consignor.
