Mickey Charles Mantle played eighteen years in pinstripes. He won three MVP awards, one Triple Crown and was elected to sixteen All-Star teams. His post-season numbers are even more incredible. The Mick was a member of seven World Championship teams, twelve pennant winners and still holds the record for most World Series HR’s with eighteen. He is an American Icon, to say the least and was enshrined in Cooperstown in 1974, his first year of eligibility. Manuf: H&B, Model: B220, Length: 35 in, Weight: 31.7 oz, Wood: Ash, Condition: Cracked at the handle. There are numerous deep hit marks visible on the right, left and back barrel. There is also a light coat of pine tar on the mid-handle. Both of these are perfect characteristics of a true Mantle gamer. Blue bat rack streaks are visible around the entire barrel. The bat model is stamped into the knob end. Written on the knob end is number “39” which was Jim Coates in 1961-62 and Steve Hamilton in 1963. It was a common practice for pitchers to borrow bats in those days because very few pitchers ordered their own bats. In our authenticator’s opinion, this bat was indeed used by Mantle. Overall: EXCELLENT with heavy game use. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA. A great example of a true Mantle gamer from the historical '61 season.
