During his 22-year playing career with the St. Louis Cardinals, Stan "The Man" was a 24-time All-Star, three-time World Series Champion, three time MVP and a seven-time NL batting champion. He retired after the 1963 season with a career batting average of .331 and solidified his place as one of the game's greatest hitters. Musial was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969, his first year of eligibility. This uniform is part of a set that was made specifically for Spring Training without a name on back. The jersey was handed down from Musial to a subsequent player after a workout who has kept it in his family’s possession ever since. On the front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “44”. Embroidered below is the player name and year “Musial 62” in chain stitching. Across the chest reads “Cardinals” embroidered in red on blue beneath the team’s “birds on a bat” logo. The player number “6” appears on the back done in red on navy blue felt. The front has very minor staining and the underarms feature gussets. Also included are a pair of matching 1962 size “36” pants with a strip tag inside the rear waistband reading “62 Musial 36 2 6 ins”. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a player family LOA.
