This jersey was issued to Yogi Berra for the 1965 season, but he was fired after the 1964 season. It was then worn by player Art Lopez in the 1965 season. On the left front tail is “Wilson” manufacturer’s size 44 tag. In the collar is a “Berra-’65-1-44” embroidered felt strip tag. Across the front is “NEW YORK” in navy blue felt. On the back is the player number “57” in navy blue felt, which replaced the original number “8.” The sleeves on this jersey have been shortened. The jersey shows game-use and besides the number change and custom sleeves have no alterations of any kind.
