Late Hall of Famer Willie McCovey belted 521 home runs and collected more than 2,200 hits during his 22-year career. He led the National League in homers three times and twice in RBIs, as well as pacing the circuit in slugging percentage for three consecutive years (1968-70). McCovey earned National League MVP honors in 1969, ten years after earning National League Rookie of the Year in 1959. McCovey was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1986 and has his number 44 retired by the SF Giants. On the front left tail is the Wilson manufacturer’s tag size “44” with washing instructions. Adjacent below is a felt strip tag reading the year “1967” embroidered in black. In the rear collar is an additional felt strip tag reading the player name “McCovey” embroidered in black chain stitching. Adjacent to this the player number “44” is handwritten twice in black period faded marker. Across the chest reads “SAN FRANCISCO” which appears to be restored and across the back is the player number ‘44”. All numbering and lettering is done in black on orange tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use.

Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot since its original posting.
