Hall of Fame goaltender Eddie Giacomin began his NHL career with the Rangers and spent parts of 11 seasons with the team. Giacomin was among the finest goalies of his generation, winning a Vezina Trophy in addition to playing in 6 NHL All-Star games. Giacomin was such a New York fan favorite that when he returned to MSG just 2 days after being traded, the Rangers faithful booed their own team after scoring on a night that goes down as one of the 50 greatest moments in MSG history. Presented is possibly the last jersey Giacomin wore as a member of the Rangers as he played in only 4 games for the team in 1975-76. Inside the collar is the Gerry Cosby manufacturer’s tag with an attached tag reading the size “48” and a heavily faded flag tag. On the upper left chest is the rare Rangers “50” anniversary patch. The double reinforced tie neck area has the tie string intact. Diagonally across the front reads “RANGERS”. The player number “1” is on both sleeves and the back. Across the back is the player name “GIACOMIN”. All numbering and lettering is done in blue on red tackle twill. Staining is present throughout the front and back of the jersey with paint transfer, sweat stains and possible blood stains. The fight strap is intact. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a Giacomin LOA and a Selby Colson LOA.
