Rod Gilbert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. He was the first player in New York Rangers history to have his number retired. He holds the New York Rangers team records for career goals (406), career points (1021) and games played by a forward (1065). Inside the back collar is the GERRY Cosby manufacturer label with remnants of a size tag adjacent. The left breast is adorned with a Rangers 50th anniversary patch. Team name (RANGERS) appears diagonally across the front, player number (7) on the front/back and both sleeves and player name (GILBERT) across the back - all done in blue on red tackle twill. Repairs on sleeves, unprepared holes and stick marks throughout. Fightstrap intact. Images of Gilbert from the 1975-76 season show a similar unique trait/peculiarity in the way that he wore his tie strings. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear. This jersey was sourced from a former Madison Square Garden Comptroller along with other NY Rangers and Knicks game-used jerseys over 30 year ago and is being offered for the first time at public auction.
