The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Bourque was a very intelligent defenseman, almost subtle in his approach. Where other defenders would crash an opponent as hard as possible into the boards, often sending the puck flying wildly away, Bourque had the knack of checking him just hard enough to separate him from the puck, which he would then take control of, often to lead a rush to the other end of the ice. Bourque also excelled on the power play because of his strong left-handed slap shot. He was the Norris Trophy winner as the league's outstanding defenseman in 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, and 1994. In the back collar of this jersey is the "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's supply tag. Next to this tag are two other tags, size tag "54" and the wash tag. The "NHL" patch appears on the front of the jersey (three of them) and on each sleeve. On the back of the jersey is the name "Bourque" in black tackle twill trimmed in orange stitching sewn directly on the jersey. The player number "7" appears on the back of the jersey as well as on each sleeve. The numbers are made of orange on black tackle twill. The jersey is autographed on the back number in black maker and rates a 9. The jersey shows nice game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The autograph is accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication. Also accompanied by a Byron LOA.
