Johnny Bench played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 to 1983, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers in Major League Baseball history. Bench was a key member of the Reds' 1975 and 1976 World Series championship teams known as "The Big Red Machine". Inside the jersey on the tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with wash instructions and the size "44". Attached to this is a flag tag that reads "SET 1 1983." On the left front breast is the "Reds" embroidered logo patch. On the front right breast and the back of the jersey is the player number "5" in red tackle twill. The name "BENCH" has been sewn directly on the back of the jersey above the number in red tackle twill. On the right shoulder is an autograph done in black marker rating an 8. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
