To have Kareem’s threads from Dr. J’s retirement ceremony is the definition of Basketball Memorabilia. The 76ers retired Julius Erving’s No. 6 jersey in April of 1988 in a lavish ceremony during which basketball’s (at that time) third-leading scorer received gifts and was toasted by Commissioner David Stern for having set the standard. HOFer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career achievements are too long to fit in this book but some include - 6x NBA Champ, 6x NBA MVP, 2x scoring champ, 4x blocks leader, 19x All-Star, 2x NBA Finals MVP and 1970 NBA ROY. Inside the bottom of the button line is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag with size “44”. Beside the next button up is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively” Sand-Knit label. Inside the top side of the button line (still bottom tail of garment) is a blank white strip tag, a tag with “86”, a strip tag with “4”LB” and one with"33 ". The Lakers team logo patch is sewn onto the left breast in purple, orange and black embroidery over white felt. Embroidered on the right breast is the NBA logo. Player name “ABDUL JABAR” is done across the back in purple on white tackle twill. Inside the back waistband of the pants, going from left to right are; a strip tag with “86”, a blank white strip tag, Sand-Knit “Designed & Tailored Exclusively” label, Sand-Knit MacGregor manufacturer's tag with size “34” and three strip tags - “2 HR”, “41” and “1-2” IN”. Draw string is intact. Embroidered on the left hip is the NBA logo. Player number “33” is done on the left hip, in purple tackle twill. There is some minor staining/material bleeding throughout. Kareem signed both garments in black marker, in our opinion rating an 8. This warm up uniform is properly tagged and was presented to us as player-worn and in our opinion shows excellent wear. Accompanied by a letter from Photo-Match.com, as well as a full JSA LOA.
