Standout linebacker "Rookie of the Year" Derrick Thomas spent 11 years with Chiefs, going to 9 Pro Bowls. Tragically, his life and career were cut short when he died in 2000 due to injuries from an automobile accident. A star both on and off the field, Thomas' community service activities earned him the NFL's most prestigious service awards, including the "NFL Edge Man of the Year" in 1993. This is the actual trophy presented to Thomas, almost 17" tall bronze cast sculpture on a 2" high marble base. Statue represents a football player of yore with weather parka, extremely heavy. Accompanied by a photo of Thomas receiving this trophy, photo is signed in black ink by Thomas and his presenter Lamar Hunt. Trophy is in NRMT-MINT condition with no noticeable flaws, photo is EXMT-NRMT with signatures that grade an 8. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA. This lot will be expensive to ship.
