At the 1999 MLB All-Star game, American League starting pitcher Pedro Martinez struck out the first four batters he faced, becoming the first pitcher in history to begin the All-Star Game striking out the side. In all he struck out five of the six batters he faced, earning him Game MVP honors and became the second player in All-Star Game history to be named MVP as a member of the host team. Red Sox legend Ted Williams threw out the first pitch and was recognized on the field prior to the game starting. This oversized banner hung at Fenway Park for the 1999 MLB All-Star measures approximately 178”x36” and reads “ALL-STAR GAME ‘99” with the green “BOSTON ALL-STAR GAME” logo. Accompanied by an LOA from the Vice President of Programming and Production of the NFL Network stating that this banner was purchased at a charitable fundraising event sponsored by the New England Sports Network.
