Cal Ripken Jr. is considered one of the best shortstops and third basemen to ever play the game. During his 21 year career with the Baltimore Orioles, Ripken pioneered the way for taller, larger shortstops to be successful in that position. A two-time MVP, 19-time All-Star and Rookie of the Year winner, Ripken Jr. was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 on the first ballot. On the front left tail is the “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” manufacturer’s tag with size “48” with wash instructions. Attached are two flag tags reading “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA LENGTH”. Adjacent below is a white strip tag with the year “1999” printed in black. Between the second and third buttons are two corresponding pieces of velcro. Across the front reads “Orioles” in orange on black on white tackle twill. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “8”. Across the back is the player name “RIPKEN”. All are done in the same orange on black tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the Baltimore “Oriole” logo embroidered. On the right sleeve is the player number “7” in black tackle twill to commemorate the death of Cal Ripken Sr. Adjacent below is the Russell “R” embroidered in black. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an SGC booklet grading the jersey “Superior”.
