During the 2000-01 season, Paul Pierce became the first Celtic to score 2,000 points since Larry Bird completed the feat in 1987-88. At the 2002 NBA All-Star Game, his first, he scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes. During the 2002 season, he was the first Celtic in team history to finish as the league leader in total points (2144.) On the left front tail is the "Boston Celtics" label and next to this is the "Nike" label with the size, "54." Next to this is the "NBA Authentics" label. Below the Nike label is the "Length +4" label. On the inside left front tail is the wash tag and under this is the year tag "2001-02." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Celtics" and on the back is the name "Pierce." The player number "34" appears on both the front and back of the jersey. All the letters and numbers are made of green tackle twill. On the upper left front is the "NBA" patch and on the upper right front is an American flag patch commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
