The 2008 US Men’s Basketball team was nicknamed the "Redeem Team", a play on the nickname for the legendary 1992 squad that was called the "Dream Team", and a reference to the fact that the United States came away with a disappointing Bronze Medal during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece. LeBron James, often named the vocal leader of the US team, stated in a feature with TIME magazine: "It's the gold, or it's failure." The United States, with eleven NBA All-Stars and a Hall of Fame coach ultimately accomplished their goal. They defeated Spain 118-107 to accomplish their expectation of winning the tournament in Beijing. LeBron had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists during the Gold Medal game. We were told by our consignor that he purchased this jersey from a member of the Press in Japan who had locker room access. On the left front tail is the size “XX” label with “United We Rise” along with the “USA Basketball” logo. Attached is a flag tag with “Length+6”. Directly above is “GAMES OF THE XXIX OLYMPIAD” embroidered in gold. Inside the rear collar are two flag tags directly on top of one another; a “Nike” tag with size “XXL” and a wash instructions tag. Across the front is “USA” done in red on white tackle twill with a grey embroidered border. Player number “6” appears on both the front and back in white tackle twill with a grey embroidered border. Player name “JAMES” appears on back in navy blue tackle twill with a grey embroidered border. At the left chest is the American Flag patch. At the right chest is a Nike swoosh. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate use.
