One of the finest Babe Ruth signed checks we have ever offered. Ruth filled out this Chemical Bank & Trust Company personal check #4829 to Cash in the amount of $86.00 on January 28, 1941. The cancellation marks show that it was processed the following day after being endorsed on the back by Agnes Kavanogh. The check is in remarkable condition with just a light fold down the middle. None of the cancellation marks come close to Ruth’s signature, which reads “GH Ruth” like he wrote on virtually all of his checks, representing his full name George Herman Ruth. And what a signature it is! All of the writing on the front of the check is in beautiful black fountain pen in Ruth’s hand. PSA/DNA concurs regarding the quality of the signature. They have authenticated and encapsulated the check, grading the signature a MINT 9. Comes encapsulated with a LOA from JSA.
