Although many of Babe Ruth's baseball records have since been broken, he is still considered the greatest athlete to ever play the game. At the time of his retirement, Ruth held 56 Major League records. Recognized as the greatest hitter of his day, he even batted .304 career as a pitcher! He led the league 12 times in home runs, 11 times hitting more than 40, including his remarkable 60 in 1927. When Ruth hit 54 in 1920, no other player had more than 19 and only the entire Philadelphia Phillies team hit more home runs. This OAL Harridge baseball has been signed in black fountain pen on the top panel by Babe Ruth. On the sweet spot and side panels is written in blue ink (not in Ruth's hand) an inscription to a junior baseball All-Star named "Joe" and a date of 1947. The ball shows wear, toning and some scuff marks, the signature grades a strong 8. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
