HOFer, Gil Hodges is a baseball man through and through - widely regarded as the major leagues’ outstanding first baseman of the 1950’s, with teammate Duke Snider being the only player to have more HR’s or RBI’s during the decade. Some of his other accolades include - 8x All-Star, 3x World Series Champ (1969 being with the Mets as Manager), 3x Gold Glover and No. 14 retired by both the Dodgers and the Mets. The 1956 WS was the final Subway Series until the year 2000, as the Dodgers and NY Giants moved to CA following the 1957 season. Additionally, it was the series Don Larsen threw his famous perfect game and the last time a New York City team represented the NL in a WS until 1969, when the NY Mets who were coached by Hodges defeated the Orioles in five games. On the front left tail of this Doggers Home Flannel is a Spalding manufacturer’s label with a size tag attached “44”. Stitched below in blue is the player name (Hodges). Inside the front left tail is a label with wash instructions and a flag tag attached reading “SET 1 1956”. Team name (Dodgers) is done in blue felt across the front. Player number (14) is done below that in red felt and on the back in blue felt. Very minor holes to front left tail and right shoulder which does not distract from its overall beauty. Custom shortened sleeves per Hodges linking and the felt is in good condition. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding wear, with extended organizational use. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the Dodgers’ Minor League player’s family that this jersey was reissued to. Accompanied by a letter from Photo-Match.com
