The 1992-1993 NBA season saw the Chicago Bulls do what no other team had done since the legendary Celtics of the 1960s by winning three consecutive NBA Championships, now known as a "three-peat." Led by the inimitable Michael Jordan who came out of retirement, the Bulls went on to do the inconceivable: win another three Championships in a row for a "repeat three-peat." For each of these accomplishments, the Bulls received the NBA Championship Trophy, which was created in 1978 for the National Basketball Association and renamed in 1984 in honor of the late former NBA Commissioner Larry O'Brien, who served from 1975 to 1984 and was inducted into the HOF in 1991. Made by Tiffany & Co., the trophy is hand crafted in sterling silver with a 24K gold overlay. Standing almost two feet tall, it is comprised of 16 pounds of sterling silver and vermeil with a base etched to resemble a basketball net. A rod extends from the base to the ball on top, giving the appearance of motion. The ball, which rests along the rim of the net, is also made of sterling silver and vermeil and is regulation size. Made to honor the Chicago Bulls' six NBA Championships in the 1990s, this astounding trophy is a replica made to the exact specifications of the original and weighs just as much. On the base is an engraved "NBA" logo, an engraved "Bulls" logo and "The Larry O'Brien Trophy, World Champions, Chicago Bulls, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998."
