Red and blue stitched Gray Co. No. 5 Western League baseball signed in fountain pen in the late 1930s by HOFer Cy Young and Rogers Hornsby, as well as six others. Included is a 1938 letter from Toney LaFata, ostensibly a Minor Leaguer trying out for the Majors, who ran into Young, Horsnby, Lon Warneke and others during a train trip to baseball camp. Ball is deeply toned with a coat of shellack, the Young signature grades a 6 to 7, the Hornsby a 3 to 4 and the others a 4. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
